Back in the day we used to read magazines. More like ‘pour over’ magazines. A cup of tea and a good home decor magazine….and I was on vacation. Now a days, you power up your computer, push the big “P” and it’s like you have hundreds of magazines at your fingertips!
Beautiful environments…..we’re all drawn to them. Orderly environments…..create peace. But it can feel like we’re trying to create that while we’re running on ice that’s moving. Life is coming at us f-a-s-t. And it’s always changing.
I love organizing. I watched my mom move our home 20 different times. She was an artist when it came to being able to pack up, move, unpack and…..walla! Home. When I was 16 we moved to Brooklyn, New York. I remember walking into the apartment 2 weeks after we moved in and thinking….wow, record time….it’s Home. I’ve learned some things that I’d like to pass on. So for the next few of my posts, I want to talk about organizing our home. Nothing overwhelming. Just a few simple tidbits that guide me in my quest.
Where to start? Start with the place where you are going to meet with God each day. That is the center of your home. It is the doorway to the best ‘you’. It’s the gateway to clear thinking and direction. It’s sooo much more. It is the heart of our life. In our physical environment…..everything emanates from there. So start there.
I have my chair….my tea pot….tea cup….tea bags all waiting for me. My books are there. My pens, kleenex, shawl and special lamp. I regularly weed out the books that I’m not reading anymore. This is my first keep-clutter-away priority spot in the house.
A simple thought. But the first step to a organized, peaceful home.

i’m so happy you’ll be posting on this subject cynthia! i’m in dire need!
