Today is usually the day Cynthia Haughery does her post, and I know how much you all love to hear from her. As you are aware she has been caring for her mother and father, which has caused some days to be more intense than others depending on her parents’ needs. Just this week, it seems that her mother has taken a turn for the worse, causing Cynthia to have to increase her care for her. Her mother was in extreme pain from what is thought to be another broken bone somewhere, or a further breaking of the hip. Tons of pain medication has brought her suffering to a tolerable place. The latest (as I know it) is what follows in her update:
“There is a lot of peace in the house.
Thank you, Lord. Mom has been “asleep” since Tuesday night……except for when we wake her for something. She seems to be experiencing God’s peace…..which was her greatest prayer.
The medications are doing a wonderful job. Her swallowing reflex is sometimes there……sometimes not, now. We have dropped all her “peripheral” drugs and are giving her only the ones most needful for comfort. She hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning…..and she’s not asking for food. We’re not pushing it on her either.
Dad is absorbing the fact that Mom is dying. It’s going to be hardest on him. I think that that will be the hardest part for me…….watching Dad lose his dearest. The Lord will give me grace.”

I know your heart is saddened, as is mine, when you read what Cynthia’s experience is right now. There is comfort in knowing God is with her and that she is extremely aware of that every step of the way. We can rejoice together as sisters and brothers that there is peace for our friend in the midst of suffering and sorrow! Let us together carry Cynthia and her whole family on our hearts and in our prayers. Please make a comment below to send your love and encouragement to strengthen her soul during this difficult time.
Comment from Cynthia: Thank you, Brenda, for this post. Thank you each and every one of you who are leaving comments. They are exceedingly comforting to me. Each and every one. Thank you for taking the time to let me know that you’re thinking of me. I will always treasure each and every comment. Much love…..

Cynthia, please know that I am continuing to pray for you and your dear mom. I have grown to love her, and carry her in my heart. She is a very easy woman to love! I will pray for your dad even more. Watching my dad mourn for the death of my mom is harder than dealing with my own grief, so I will pray for you, too, God is so loving and kind to have prepared a place for your mom in heaven, and now he’s bringing her there! I love you, dear friend.
Thank you Brenda for stepping in to lighten Cynthia’s load today. It means so much to her at a time like this and lets her know she is not walking through this alone.
“Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”
Dear Cynthia,
We are sad with you in your sadness and we rejoice with you in thanksgiving for all of God’s gifts, especially His Peace to you and your family during this time.
You and Bill have been such beautiful examples to us of God’s character; His Love, His Grace, His Humility. We are thankful for you.
Praying God’s continued blessings for each of you, and trusting His goodness. May He especially bless your dad’s hurting heart and your’s too in those times of grief.

Job 5:18
Cynthia, I have been thinking of you since Bill told us about your mom on Tuesday. I pray that God’s peace will be with you, just as it is with her.
Cynthia, praying for you dear friend and for your family. May you and your family experience God’s tender care as he leads you all through these days. Much Love.
Cynthia-
I love you my friend! And I am praying for you and your family’s continued “peace in the storm”. Know that the Lord is being glorified in you through all of this. Your honesty, humility and openness in letting us walk with you through this encourages me! I read this in the amplified bible recently from Hebrews 13: “for He (God) Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down (relax My hold on you).”
Well, I now know why God put you and your mom on my heart often this week. I will continue to lift you all up in prayer. Cynthia, thank you so much for your wonderful example in the way that you are sacrificially serving your parents. With Much Love~Krista Oliver
I’m so grateful that I was able to meet your mother while she was healthier. What a beautiful gracious joy-filled woman…you emulate her well, Cynthia. My prayers are with you and I take comfort that the Holy Spirit can translate my prayers. May the God of all comfort fill you with unmeasurable peace and joy. May he give you great wisdom for you have asked not for yourself but to assist your family. You are a beautiful picture to me of the heart of my savior. Love~Beejee

Two remarkable women. Love you both so much. As you minister to your parents, Cynthia, I am picturing God smiling through tears as you allow His hands to serve them, His words to speak His love to them, His arms to hold them, His feet to go and stand right next to them…as you offer your body as a living sacrifice for Him. It’s a win-win-win-win for all four of you. May your sadness mingle with joy. Love, Marcy
Cynthia Lynn and I are keeping you all in our prayers. We know this time is not easy. Your faith during this time is encouraging. Our Lord is our refuge and strength.
Your care for your mom and dad are a badge of honor for them. I know that
they feel that.
“They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Ps 34:5
Precious days, Cynthia, and priceless moments. Praying for you all and knowing that Christ truly is sufficient. How awesome to consider that your Mom’s faith will soon be made sight, and that He will faithfully meet each one of you as she crosses Jordan’s banks, and will continue to meet you. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
Cynthia, How you are serving your parents is such a testimony. Thank you for being a faithful daughter. It is such an example to me as I look into the future of serving my own parents in that way. You are in our prayers.

What a great picture of grandmommy! So joyful and elegant. She reminds me of a rose, so beautiful, both inside and out. But in her case, there are no thorns. I will miss her.
.. And you’re right behind her. Her daughter. Another beautiful woman, both inside and out….with no thorns. I love you.

Such a wonderful picture of your mom!! Your mom is such a dear lady, there is nothing like a mom! Your in my thoughts and prayers, it is not easy to watch our parents lose their life’s love…and yet God will meet your dad and you, his peace and presence will be there…He never leaves us or forsakes us, as the song says “never once did we ever walk alone”!

Cynthia, what a joy to see the example of honoring our parents, know that we always think of you when the church gathers and we do miss your presence. Prayers go out everyday for you and parents …..may Jesus guide you every step….
Cynthia,
I am asking our Lord to give you all you need in these days as you care for your mom and dad. Thank you for your example of love and sacrifice.
Love in Christ,

Cynthia, you are continually in my thoughts and prayers. I am so impacted by the way you are laying down your life to serve you parents in their time of need. Your sacrifice is a beautiful example of honoring your father and mother and ushering them into the next life with dignity. What a noble task you are putting your hand to.
I love the picture of you and your mom. You have the same smile. Just beautiful.
Cynthia the treasures that you are laying up in heaven or many. What a wonderful daughter you are to your parents. Your folks are amazing people. They have always showed Edwin and I such kindness and grace. Seeing the love that your parents share for each other is so beautiful to see. I am praying for you as always.
Cynthia, There have been so many blessings in having your parents here at this time in their lives and yours. We are on the outside looking in and seeing God at work bringing grace, peace and the joy that can only come from Him. Thank you for your love for the Savior who is walking with you every minute. We love you so much!

Praying for you, Cynthia, and your father. Praying that you both experience His perfect peace and comfort as you spend these final days here with your mom, and that the promise of a future reunion with no pain and in the presence of Christ brings you further hope. Praying also for your mom, that the pain be minimal and that she also is surrounded by grace. You are a dear, sweet woman and your are a blessing to your parents, Bill, your children and grandchildren and your church family. You are an example to us all what sacrificial love looks like, and I think it is all the more Christ-like because it is your joy, not a “sacrifice”. Much love to you, Cynthia!

Cynthia,

So sorry to hear about your mother. She has a beautiful smile just like yours. The best to all of you. Nancy
Cynthia, What a bittersweet time for you and your family. It’s so very difficult to say goodbye to a beloved parent, but God is so good to give everlasting hope through the promise of eternity in heaven. We are praying God’s grace and peace for you, your family, and especially for your dad during this difficult time.

praying for you. Losing a parent is a difficult thing, and for a lady, having your mother leave this earth is an especially challenging time. I am sure you will miss her much, but the Lord will carry you through this too my friend. Our God is so faithful! His mercy is new every morning! Take comfort in knowing He will be there for you each step of the way, and some days will be more difficult than others, but He is there during each and every moment of your grief! It is a great comfort knowing you will meet her again in your eternal resting place! May your soul be resting in God’s peace and grace. Much Love!
