Randy and Tina Wenger are faithful members and Care Group leaders at Crossway Church. Randy is an example to us all and his testimony should encourage us all to step out of our comfort zones and proclaim Christ to others. Here is Randy’s testimony…
There’s no doubt God is working through the Proclaim course. We all know we’re to spread the Gospel, but without a vision, it’s hard to work toward a goal. The Proclaim course highlighted the need to me to get out of my comfort zone and my self-imposed busyness to see where God may be at work.
Last week, after getting off the train, I saw a woman holding a Bible. It occurred to me that there was an opportunity to enter into a spiritual conversation. But by the time those thoughts solidified in my mind and I considered how to enter such a conversation, I had walked well beyond this lady. So I decided to give it up, but couldn’t get it out of my mind. So I walked back and struck up a conversation. I soon found out that she was not a Christian and tried to engage her with the gospel based on what I had learned in the Proclaim course. She showed no interest in what I had to say, but I invited her to Alpha anyway (which she politely refused) and gave her my phone number. To my surprise, she called up the following day and asked to come.
Trying to follow God’s leading felt extremely awkward–much like it is awkward to try any new thing. But it was a blessing to our whole family to see God work in this way. And God used the Proclaim course to prod me in the right direction. Otherwise I’m likely to have walked right by a Gospel opportunity.

What an encouraging story, Randy! Thanks for being faithful to follow the prodding of God on your heart even though it felt awkward. Reading this has built my faith.
