What am I known for?

I simply can’t top this…

I’ve never made it into the Guinness Book of World Records.  I’m not magna cum laude material.  I’m no Jimmy Hendrix.  I’m not physically fit.  I’m losing my hair.  I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed nor the brightest bulb of the bunch.

But the reality is as Calvin says it:

For to the extent that a man rests satisfied with himself, he impedes the beneficence of God.

Simply put – it is better to have little thoughts of myself, my looks, life and belongings and embrace the person of Jesus wholeheartedly than to disgrace the glory of God pretending I have something to boast in.

I pray that in this year of my life I may labor to be known as one who makes much of Jesus.  O Jesus, help me!

I like that thought – to make much of Jesus. More of Him and less of me. What a wonderful birthday gift to yourself.
    Happy Birthday, Doug!

Happy Birthday Doug! Thanks for being an example of one who follows hard after the Savior. And, thanks for modeling what it looks like to make much of Christ.

I think you should pick some obscure Guinness Book record and aim to break it.

Sorry I couldn’t post this on your birthday I was a bit tied up. Happy Birthday my friend you are a testament to what God can do with any of us if we let ourselves be open to his guiding hand. You are a true friend and pastor to all the members of crossway.
ps. if you want to let your beard grow for 16 months we can try the toothpick record with you.
