I am always on the hunt for new tunes. The thrill of the hunt for me is driven by the joy of music, driven by the desire to grow as a songwriter and driven by the hope of finding new songs to use for Sunday morning worship.
One can get absolutely lost in the flood of new CD releases (which ones are any good? how can I possibly wade through all this?) Anytime someone provides a suggestion to check out this band or that song, it is a big help.
Recently someone suggested to check out several songs from songwriter/worship leader Chris Tomlin, from his new album “Hello Love“. I found several wonderfully written songs on the album, including a few that we may introduce in worship in the months ahead. My personal favorite is the song that I hope to share on Easter Sunday: “I Will Rise“.

Hey Doug, we just rented the movie, “Fireproof” last night. I don’t know if they have a CD for the soundtrack for the movie but there were a couple of excellent songs on there. They may not necessarily be for worship in a church service but they were good nonetheless, especially in the context of the movie theme. Have you seen it yet?
I did a little research and found out there is not as of yet an official “Fireproof” soundtrack to buy. However, they do offer all the songs from the movie as a “soundtrack” purchase at itunes. But the 2 songs that I was making reference to were “Love Is Not a Fight” by Warren Barfield and “While I’m Waiting” by John Waller. I also recently heard (and very much liked) a song by Matthew West called “Going Thru the Motions”. Has anyone else heard any of these songs?
